Course Overview

For those who have completed British Sign Language Beginners and wish to move on, Tuesday 6-8pm

Open Is this course right for me?

If you are interested in developing your knowledge of British Sign Language then this is the course for you.

Open What will I learn?

You will learn how to greet a deaf person and getting their attention, the use of sign language and finger spelling. BSL grammar and sign order, to ask and answer simple questions. Recap on topics may include families, home, jobs, leisure, travel, and weather, eating and drinking.

Open How will I learn?

There will be an opportunity to watch, copy, be coached in signs, and finger spelling used by deaf people. Handouts with explanations of deafness and examples of signs and finger spelling will be available.

Open Will I gain a qualification?

You will not gain a formal qualification but you may receive a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor. Information will be available on further courses leading to formal qualification if you wish to continue learning sign language.
