Free to eligible learners earning under £25,000 p/a, email or send an enquiry for more information. Otherwise enrol and pay online at https://mycouncil.milton-keynes.gov.uk/service/Community_Learning_MK Discover the art and joy of quilting in this introductory course, Wednesdays 6.30-8.30pm
Suitable for beginners with some experience of sewing and using a sewing machine. Come and learn some new basic piecing and quilting skills so you can make a quilt and see the possibilities that these skills offer.

How to use the sewing machine to join pieces in to blocks; How to use a variety of cutting methods to create patterns; How to construct a block; How to quilt simple patterns; Construct a basic quilt and bind the edges.

You will not gain a formal qualification but you may receive a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor.

Join Quilting Improvers in the spring term to progress your skills - there are lots of textile ideas that could be developed!
Prosp Next Steps
People may like to bring their own machine (serviced recently!), though machines are available at the centre. Please bring: An A3 cutting mat, scissors for fabric and paper, tape measure, headed pins, sewing needles, appropriate for your fabric, quick unpick, 45mm rotary cutter, quilting ruler 6 ½” x 12” (16.5cm x 30cm) or 24” (61cm). You should also bring a square of natural cloth such as muslin or cotton sheeting to use as a pressing cloth. A more detailed list of fabric requirements and suggested suppliers will be sent out prior to the start of the course.
