Take the next step in your childcare career with a recognised qualification that prepares you for real-world roles, Wednesdays 9.30am-12pm. You will need to attend the 6 week Get Ready session from Wednesday 10 September before joining this course.
This course will give the skills and qualifications you need to work in a childcare setting including day nurseries, pre-schools and crèches. It provides you with the knowledge and understanding of working with babies and young children from birth to 7 years and supports the development of the practical and technical skills needed to work with children up to the age of 5 years. You will need to attend an induction and be working at, or have a Level 1 qualification in English, before enrolling on this course.
Prosp Is This Right For Me
The course covers subjects like child development, health and safety, safeguarding,
communication and how to provide opportunities for learning through play. You will need to complete 9 mandatory units to achieve the qualification.
Prosp What Will I Learn
There will be a weekly session with a tutor, independent research, and practical work experience. You will need to volunteer or be working in a childcare placement – this can be a children’s centre, nursery, pre-school or crèche for a minimum of 7-9 hours per week.
Prosp How Will I Learn
Yes, the qualification is the City and Guilds Level 2 Diploma for Early Years Practitioners. During the course there may also be the opportunity to complete Basic Safeguarding training.

This qualification meets the needs of candidates who work or want to work in a wide range of children’s settings covering the age range 0-5 years for example in the roles of: Care Worker, Childminder, Nursery Nurse.
