Course Overview

Course Overview
Explore fundamental childcare principles, including communication with young children, play, and child development, in a practical, assessment-based course with no exams required
This course provides an overview of essential principles and practices in childcare, emphasizing the importance of fostering a supportive and stimulating learning environment for children. You’ll learn about child development stages, effective communication techniques, and strategies to support children’s learning through play and structured activities. As part of the first session, we ask learners to complete a short English and basic numeracy assessment, as you will be building a portfolio over the 12 weeks and will need good understanding to complete the written work. You will be supported throughout the course by your tutor and other learners.
Prosp Is This Right For Me
You will complete the following units: Unit A2: Developing a Personal Progression Plan: This unit will help you find out what opportunities are available to you and how to get to the next stage. You will carry out a self-audit, identifying what your strengths are and what you need to develop to be able to meet your progression goals. Unit CfC12: Supporting Children’s Learning: In this unit, you will learn about everyday experiences that can support children’s learning and how adults can support children's learning through these experiences. You will consider how everyday activities can help children to learn language, literacy, numeracy and self-help skills. You will develop skills in supporting children to learn during everyday experiences, through encouragement and asking questions. You will also develop your skills in planning and presenting information to others.
