How to take personal measurements. How to construct the complex, basic pattern blocks to fit; trouser, dartless bodice and coat. Learn how to make adjustments to the block. Learn how to make simple adjustments to create own designs.

Step by step practical instructions, one to one fitting advice and tip sheets.

You will not gain a formal qualification, but you may request a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor.

Join Pattern Cutting Improvers Part 2 in the summer term to further develop your skills - there are lots of pattern ideas that could be developed!

Open Please bring

You will need to bring: 3 Sharp pencils HB or 2H, Sharp coloured Pencils, Paper Scissors, Tape measure, Metre Rule, Set square (a curved ruler would be helpful but not essential), Masking Tape, Pins, Tracing Wheel. Once your block is drawn out, you will need to make the pattern in a plain cotton or calico to adjust the fit. Four metres will make all the blocks.
