Course Overview
Wednesdays, 7-9pm
Suitable for those who have completed An Introduction to Quilting and those with some experience of quilting, sewing and using a sewing machine. Come and learn some new piecing techniques such as half square triangles, and quilting skills so you can make a quilt and see the possibilities that these skills offer.

How to use the sewing machine to join pieces in to blocks. How to use a variety of cutting methods to create patterns. How to construct a more complicated block. How to quilt simple patterns using free motion. Construct a quilt and bind the edges.

You will not gain a formal qualification, but you may request a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor.

Join Quilting Improvers in the summer term to continue you quilting journey - there are lots of textile ideas that could be developed!
Prosp Next Steps
People may like to bring their own machine (serviced recently!), though machines are available at the centre. Please bring: An A3 cutting mat, scissors for fabric and paper, tape measure, headed pins, sewing needles, appropriate for your fabric, quick unpick, 45mm rotary cutter, quilting ruler 6 ½” x 12” or 24”. You should also bring a square of natural cloth such as muslin or cotton sheeting to use a pressing cloth. A more detailed list of fabric requirements and suggested suppliers will be sent out prior to the start of the course.
