Course Overview
Learn effective sleep strategies, Thursday, 6-8pm.
This course aims to provide valuable insights and ‘top tips’ to achieve better sleep. It is aimed at people who would like to maintain and sustain their health and well-being. It is not a therapy session, is not suitable for those experiencing a mental health crisis and not intended to replace any medical advice or healthcare services. If you have a trauma-related diagnosis, or a severe and enduring mental health consideration, you may wish to discuss this with your doctor, case worker, community mental health team, or the course tutor before enrolling. All attendees are asked to take personal responsibility for their own learning and well-being, to collaborate in a way that ensures a safe learning environment for the whole group and only take part in activities which feel right for them. No guarantee of any specific results is given or implied.
Prosp Is This Right For Me
In this two-hour interactive session, we will: explore the science of sleep, discover a big myth of sleep, identify what helps (and what doesn't) get a better night's rest. The content of this course may be adapted as scientific research, theories or course requirements change. No guarantee of any specific results are given.
Prosp What Will I Learn
Sessions introduce a mixture of theory and practical exercises. There may be written activities as well as the potential for learning through listening, reading, watching videos, asking questions and contributing to group discussion, as well as (where relevant) mindfulness and guided meditation. Book, app and video recommendations may also be offered during the course, which are optional to consider; always check
suitability before you invest. Learners are empowered and encouraged to participate where they feel comfortable, as appropriate, in a way that benefits their health and well-being.
Prosp How Will I Learn
You will not gain a formal qualification but you may request a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor, to be given out at the end of the course.
Prosp Qualification
You may wish to enrol on one of our other Health and Wellbeing courses, or other courses within the Community Learning portfolio.
Prosp Next Steps
