Course Overview
This course is for those who have completed beginners and those with some knowledge, Thursdays 7-8.30pm
This course is intended for anyone who wishes to develop their lip-reading skills, and improve communication affected by hearing loss. The course, building on knowledge and understanding, will cover a range of subjects including: lipreading theory and practice, finger spelling, tactics for managing hearing loss in everyday life, and will give the opportunity to practise lip-reading in a safe, positive environment. This course is suitable for those who already have some experience and knowledge.
Prosp Is This Right For Me
By the end of the course, you should be able to: list consonant confusion groups and identify visible and less visible shapes, recognise specific lip shapes in eyedrill, sentences/prose and running speech, explain the psychological impact of acquired hearing loss/deafness, apply finger spelling alphabet to support communication.
Prosp What Will I Learn
Voiced and devoiced presentations; discussion and demonstration, group and pair work. There will be opportunities at every session to practise lip-reading skills. Resources will include flipchart, worksheets, handouts. Individual communication needs will be taken into account at all times.

You will not gain a formal qualification but you may receive a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor.
