Course Overview
For those who have completed one term of Italian - Beginners, Wednesdays 7-8.30pm
You may have completed an introductory course, such as Italian – Beginners or equivalent (you may have spent time in the country and/or with Italian friends) and feel ready to start this course.
Prosp Is This Right For Me
You will build on your existing knowledge and continue to learn to understand, speak, read and write enough Italian to get by in everyday situations you might encounter on a first visit to a Italy. These might include: Talking about yourself and your family, Shopping for food and clothes, visiting a market. Eating out, ordering food and drinks, expressing what you like and paying compliments. Travelling, buying train or airplane tickets, booking a hotel or talking about leisure activities. By the end of the course you will be able to ask/ answer simple questions e.g. about your life. To understand the main points from a short spoken passage, understand the main points from a short written text e.g. from a menu or travel leaflet. Understand and use numbers confidently to include money, date and time. To write short sentences to a model and fill in the words on a simple form.
Prosp What Will I Learn
You will be in a class of no more than 14 and will often work in pairs or small groups.
The emphasis will be on speaking and understanding the language so expect the main language of the classroom to be Italian! You will be asking and answering questions in the language and taking part in simple everyday conversations using role-play. You will learn new topics through games and you may take part in interactive learning via the Internet and PowerPoint.

You will not receive a formal qualification but you may request a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor.

You can move on to the next stage - Moving on to Improvers or Improvers course, depending on your personal rate of progress.
Prosp Next Steps
Please bring a ring binder, paper and pen. At the first session the tutor will tell you about any books you may need to buy. The cost should not be more than £20. Your tutor may suggest you buy an up-to-date dictionary.
