This course provides an overview of essential principles and practices in childcare, emphasizing the importance of fostering a supportive and stimulating learning environment for children. You’ll learn about child development stages, effective communication techniques, and strategies to support children’s learning through play and structured activities. As part of the first session, we ask learners to complete a short English and basic numeracy assessment, as you will be building a portfolio over the course and will need good understanding to complete the written work. You will be supported throughout the course by your tutor and other learners.
