Prosp Is This Right For Me
How to cut out pattern pieces accurately. Learn how to use a variety seams, neatening methods and fastenings. Learn how to construct pockets and collars. Learn how to make a simple garment or a more detailed one. Use a commercial pattern and follow the instructions. Simple techniques of fabric manipulation.

Working on a pattern of your choice, with demonstrations of different techniques and one-to-one advice given throughout the day.

You will not gain a formal qualification, but you may request a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor.

Join a future course continuing to develop your skills - there are lots of textile ideas that could be developed!
Prosp Next Steps
People may like to bring their own machine (serviced recently!), though machines are available at the centre. A pattern of your choosing and appropriate fabric. Please bring the usual sewing kit: scissors for fabric and paper, tape measure, headed pins, sewing needles, tailors chalk, threads appropriate for your fabric, quick unpick. You should also bring a square of natural cloth such as muslin or cotton sheeting to use a pressing cloth. You may also wish to bring a packed lunch.
