A step-by-step guide to getting started from choosing and preparing silk, selecting paints and tools to using outliners and blending colours. Learn how to transfer patterns ready to paint a vibrant floral design with a variety of wet and dry techniques.

In a small group we will look at examples and experiment with patterns before working on your own interpretation of a given design. Step by step demonstrations and guidance will be provided from your tutor.

You will not gain a formal qualification but you may request a Certificate of Achievement from your tutor.

Taking the skills learnt you may wish to apply them to your own artwork, accessories or textiles. Alternatively, continue to explore and develop your creative skills on another of the courses on offer.

Open Please bring

All materials are included on the day to complete the project. However, for additional experimentation, you can bring your own washed and untreated silk fabric. Silk habotai, crepe de chine, crepe georgette are all suitable and can usually be bought by the half metre.
