Course Overview

Course Overview
Explore what self-compassion is and how you can develop yours for a happier life, Thursdays 1-2.30pm
The objectives for this course are to explore and demonstrate compassion for ourselves and create a personal self-compassion ‘toolkit’. It may be particularly helpful for those who have a noisy ‘inner critic’ or may describe themselves as “perfectionists”. This course is for people who are focused on enhancing and maintaining their well-being. People who are currently navigating a mental health crisis may find this learning environment challenging and are encouraged to seek alternative appropriate support from local services. If you have a trauma-related diagnosis, you may wish to discuss this with the course tutor before as the course will briefly explore adverse childhood experiences. We ask all attendees to take responsibility for their own learning and only take part in activities and learning which feels right for them.
Prosp Is This Right For Me
By the end of the course, learners will be able to: explore what we mean by compassion, list different emotional systems (how they help/or not), identify how mindfulness can help with being self-compassionate, create a self-compassion toolkit.
Prosp What Will I Learn
This course involves group discussion, so you’ll be encouraged to participate through listening, asking questions and contributing where you can. The sessions offer a mixture of theory and practical exercises; there may be written activities as well as the potential for learning through reading, video and suggested apps. Book and video recommendations may also be given during the course. Activities may include mindfulness meditation. The content of this course may be adapted as scientific research, theories or course requirements change.
Prosp How Will I Learn
You will not gain a formal qualification; however, you may receive a Certificate of Attendance from your tutor.
