Course Overview

This course is for learners who have completed Spanish Improvers or Intermediate and feel ready to move on, Wednesdays 7-9pm

Open Is this course right for me?

You should have studied Spanish for 280 hours in the recent past but you may have maintained your level of Spanish by spending time in the country and/or with Spansih friends.

Open What will I learn?

At this point of your learning experience the focus will be on listening, speaking, writing and reading that includes pronunciation to support your accuracy in speaking the language. You will be using all four skills at languages ladder level 8 (similar level to CEFR A2). The course book is Aula Internacional 2 [ISBN-10 ‏ : ‎ 3125157676 / ISBN-13 ‏ : ‎ 978-3125157675] that contains a CD with listening activities from the book plus extra pronunciation activities to practice your listening and speaking skills in between lessons. A dictionary would be additional though please check online dictionaries available before buying one! Topics that are included for this term are: Give your opinion, Exclamative expressions, Describe mood, pain, feeling unwell, body parts, Time markers: past, present, Life events: historic, trips, present, emotions. Grammar points: Revise preterite perfect and imperfect, verb to be (ser & estar), imperative forms, Uses of the conditional, Adverbs: ya, todavía, Indefinite preterite: irregular forms, past forms of estar + gerundio.

Open How will I learn?

The tutor will organise activities to practise listening, speaking, writing and reading in Spanish. Depending on the size of the group you may sometimes work in pairs or in small groups. Audio visual activities will be included to support your confidence in the Spanish language. The tutor will also provide a weekly homework to strengthen your language skills.

Open Will I gain a qualification?

Yes if you wish. You will have the opportunity to climb the Languages Ladder by receiving a Grade Certificate in one or more skills (speaking, listening, reading or writing.) The scheme is optional but many learners decide to take this route. Your tutor will give you more information.
