Course Overview
Simple practical projects to develop your sewing machine skills, Wednesdays 7-9pm
If you have no experience with a sewing machine or very basic knowledge and wish to learn and develop basic sewing skills.
Prosp Is This Right For Me
How to use a machine with confidence - threading up, winding a bobbin, different stitch types. How to pattern cut and construct a tote bag. By the end of the course you will have a good understanding of how a sewing machine works and develop good practice using a machine for future projects.
Prosp What Will I Learn
Through tutor demonstrations and guidance, working at your own pace to develop skills and achieve your goals. Learners will produce a range of samples for future reference.
Prosp How Will I Learn
You will not gain a formal qualification however you can request a Certification of Achievement from your tutor at the end of the course.
Prosp Qualification
You may wish to join Machine Sewing - Improvers or move on to a Dressmaking course.
Prosp Next Steps
You will need to bring your own basic sewing kit including; scissors (fabric & paper), tape measure, pins, sewing needles, thread & unpicker. You will also need to bring some fabric for sampling (could be scrap fabric) and some fabric of your choice for your bag. Your tutor will recommend fabric type and length at your first session. If you have your own machine please bring to each session where possible. It is best to learn on your own machine to become familiar with it for future projects. If you don’t have a machine or are unable to bring one with you please let us know in advance so that we can supply one for you.
