This course is designed to provide the skills and knowledge to successfully enter employment and provide a solid base for progression in the workplace. Whether for your first steps into the workplace, a change of role or aiming for promotion this course will help you stand out from the crowd of applicants. As part of the first session, we ask learners to complete a short English and basic numeracy assessment, as you will be building a portfolio over the 10 weeks and will need good understanding to complete the written work. You will be supported throughout the course by your tutor and other learners.

Investigating rights and responsibilities at work - This unit provides you with an understanding of rights and responsibilities at work, and where to find information and guidance about your rights and responsibilities in the workplace. Introduction to health and safety awareness in the workplace - The aim of the unit is to introduce you to health and safety and its importance in the workplace. Recognising employment opportunities - This unit will give you an understanding of the labour market and current opportunities for employment within Milton Keynes.

You will learn in variety of ways including, group and individual discussions and activities, tutorials, practical activities and independent research. You will build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.
