Recognise what your stress triggers are and develop strategies for overcoming them
If you would like to learn effective ways to manage your mental health, this course is designed to help you develop tools for effective mental health maintenance. It’s aimed at those who would describe their mental health considerations, like stress and anxiety, as “mild to moderate”, rather than severe. IMPORTANT: This course is for people with mild to moderate mental health considerations including stress, anxiety and depression. If you have a trauma-related condition such as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or a different mental health diagnosis, please speak to your doctor before joining this course or speak to the tutor before registering. We make every effort to endeavour that the content of these sessions remains up to date, however scientific research is changing all the time. The course offers food for thought by looking at the science of stress and anxiety, and suggests useful strategies based on the latest research in how to overcome them. This Stress and Anxiety Management course can help: consider the main differences between stress and anxiety; learn useful tips for better communication; explore ways to improve self-esteem, confidence and feelings of happiness; identify steps to break a ‘bad’ habit; develop a personal self-care plan for managing stress and anxiety, tailored to COVID-19. The course will look at some of the theory behind stress and anxiety management. There will be opportunities to discuss how it can be effective in helping you and from that you will learn useful strategies to overcome your stress and anxiety. There will be some writing activities and helpful handouts will be available during the six week course. There will also be other types of media such as video to watch. There will be discussion and activities during each session you can join if you wish, alongside helpful materials you can explore after the session online in your own time (via our online learning platform Moodle). You will need a device with internet access, this could be a PC, Mac, Laptop, smart/iPhone, tablet/iPad. You may wish to download the Zoom app prior to starting the course. A pen and notepad would also be useful. We will send you joining instructions after you enrol.If you have a disability and /or learning difficulty (for example a hearing or sight impairment) please let CLMK and/or your tutor know as we may be able to offer you extra support or provide different learning materials.
